Our Next Event
Tuesday 8 October 20019
Ely, Cambridgeshire, UK
Let’s start talking Rubbish!!
Dealing with rubbish in our homes is a very confusing business. We all want to do the “right thing” when it comes to recycling. So come along to find out more at a joint event organised by Renew - the Ely Cathedral Environment Group and the Circular Economy Club - CEC Ely
Darren Hughes, the Waste Minimisation Officer at East Cambs District Council will talk rubbish with us!!
He will talk us through the maze of what to can be recycled and what cannot be recycled. He will explain the process after the green or blue bin rubbish is collected and he will explain the changes that are likely to take place as a result of the UK government's consultation paper, which is out for discussion.
During the evening Peter Bates from the Circular Economy Club - Ely will also briefly talk about future plans to encourage local businesses to more away from the linear economy to embracing the Circular Economy.

Renew - the Ely Cathedral Environment Group was formed in April 2019. The group began life with the simple act of litter picking on the first Saturday of the month and is now busy working towards becoming an “Eco-Church” by reviewing its internal processes and procedures to ensure that it is adopting “best practice” in becoming eco-friendly. This also includes reaching out to the wider community.
The group was formed as the result of growing interest from within the Ely Cathedral Community in the Christian response to the environmental crisis. It is based on the principle that it will strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth as a mark of Christian mission and discipleship.
